Safeguarding

‘Safeguarding’ is defined in the HM Government document ‘Working together to safeguard children 2018' as protecting from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children's mental and physical health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes. Our safeguarding practice applies to every child.

The term Staff applies to all those working for or on behalf of Dream A Little Dream Soft Play, full time or part time, in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
The term “we”, “us”, “our” or “Dream A Little Dream Soft Play” means Dream A Little Dream Soft Play.
Child refers to all young people who have not yet reached their 18 birthday. This will apply to any child/children that attend or participate in using our equipment/use our service.
Parent refers to birth parents and other adults in a parenting role for example adoptive parents, guardians, step parents and carers.

Children have the right to be treated with respect and to be safe from any abuse in whatever form.
Dream A Little Dream Soft Play will therefore aim to:

Provide a safe and secure environment for all children

Encourage children to develop a sense of independence and autonomy in a way that is appropriate to their age and stage of development

Create an environment to encourage children to develop a positive self-image

Always listen to children

Dream A Little Dream Soft Play has a clear commitment to protecting children and promoting welfare. Should anyone believe that this policy is not being upheld, it is their duty to report the matter to the owner at the earliest opportunity.

Whilst the staff at Dream A Little Dream Soft Play make every effort to ensure the safety and safeguarding of the children using our equipment it should be stressed that the parent/hirer is responsible for the child/children at their event.

Dream A Little Dream Soft Play ensures all existing or potential staff will be subject to checks where appropriate with the disclosure and barring service references (formerly CRB).

Volunteers do not work unsupervised.

Should photographs or videos be taken for the purpose of sharing an event or for publicity permission will be sought from parents/carers in the first instance.

Employed staff will have up to date knowledge of the Dream A Little Dream Soft Play child protection and safeguarding policy.

We acknowledge that abuse of children can take different forms - physical, emotional, and sexual as well as neglect.

We are aware that children with Special Educational needs are more at risk of abuse.

If We have any safeguarding concerns regarding a child and their wellbeing or safety then We have procedures in place for staff to contact the local authority on child protection issues to ensure that it is easy, in any emergency, for the setting and children’s services to work well together.
