Covid-19 Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2023
The government has removed remaining domestic restrictions in England. There are still steps you can take to reduce the risk of catching and spreading COVID-19:

-
Let fresh air in if meeting indoors, or meet outside
-
Consider wearing a face covering in crowded, enclosed spaces

As we learn to live safely with coronavirus (COVID-19), there are actions we can all take to help reduce the risk of catching COVID-19 and passing it on to others.
These actions will also help to reduce the spread of other infections such as flu. COVID-19 along with other infections can spread easily causing serious illness in some people. You may be infected with a virus such as COVID-19 and not have any symptoms, you can still pass the infection onto others. The risk of passing on or catching COVID-19 is greater when you are physically close to someone who is infected, or if you are sharing an enclosed or poorly ventilated space with others. Someone with a respiratory viral infection such as COVID-19 releases small particles that contain the virus when they breathe, speak, cough or sneeze.
These particles can then be breathed in or come into contact with your mouth, nose or eyes. The particles may also land on surfaces and be passed from person to person via touch.
You will not necessarily know whether someone you come into contact with is at a higher risk or becoming seriously ill.

There are simple things you can do in your daily life that will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections and protect those at highest risk. Things you can choose to do are:

-
Get vaccinated.
-
Let fresh air in if meeting others indoors.
-
Practice good hygiene:
-
wash your hands
-
cover your coughs and sneezes
-
clean your surroundings frequently
-
-
Wear a face covering or a face mask.

Face coverings and face masks can help reduce the chance of you spreading infection to others, especially in crowded and enclosed spaces, and may protect you from becoming infected by some respiratory viruses.
If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, and you have a high temperature or do not feel well enough to go to work or carry out normal activities, you are advised to try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people.

-
The current guidelines on the NHS website are as follows:
-
Try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if you have symptoms of COVID-19 and either:
-
You have a high temperature
-
You do not feel well enough to go to work or do your normal activities
-
Take extra care to avoid close contact with anyone who is at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19.
-
You can go back to normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature.
-

What to do if you've tested positive for COVID-19
If you have COVID-19, you can pass on the virus to other people for up to 10 days from when your infection starts. Many people will no longer be infectious to others after 5 days.
You should:
-
try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days
-
avoiding meeting people at higher risk from COVID-19 for 10 days, especially if their immune system means they’re at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19, even if they’ve had a COVID-19 vaccine
This starts from the day after you did the test.
If a child or young person aged 18 or under tests positive for COVID-19, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days. This starts from the day after they did the test.
Children and young people tend to be infectious to others for less time than adults. If they’re well and do not have a temperature after 3 days, there’s a much lower risk that they’ll pass on COVID-19 to others.

If you are feeling unwell and do not test positive or test negative for COVID-19
If you do not feel well enough to go to work and do your normal activities, you should:
-
try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people
-
avoid meeting people at higher risk from COVID-19, especially if their immune system means they’re at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19, even if they’ve had a COVID-19 vaccine
You can go back to your normal activities if you:
-
feel well enough to do so
-
do not have a high temperature
Thank you for your co-operation
